ANNOUNCEMENTS BREED THEATRE. ‘Wallace Reid and Cleo Ridgely in The _House of the Golden Windows, Fea- ture for Today and Tuesday—The Great Secret Coming Jan. 15. Today and Tuesday the Breed wil t Wallace Reid and Cleo Ridge- Iy in The House of the Golden Win- dows, a five-part Paramount produc- tion. This is the fourth co-starring that these two popular stars have appeared in, and this contains a ctory quite different from what they havs cver done before, as it has a delicat: touch of fantasy intertwined with a plot of tense humian emotion, love, ex- citement and happiness, and in fact has become known as a picture of hap- piress. The supporting cast includes James Neill, Mabel Van Buren, Bob Fieming, Jane Wolff and Marjorie w. e Te Pathe Weekly and a very funny Crristie comedy will complete the bill for today and Tuesday. ‘Commencing next Monday and con- tiuuing every Monday and Tuesday for 15 weeks, the Breed will present The Great Secret, a stupendous serial star- ring the greatest co-star combination ©f the motion picture world. Francis X Bushman and Beverly Bayne. This Licture is released on Jan. § and wil #even days old, and at the same time it is being shown at Willam Fox's Academy of Music and the Keith and Proctor houses in New York city. ‘The following criticism of The Great Secret appeared in yvesterday's New Yerk Morning Telegram: Metro comes forth with a serial of feature strength in The Great Secret, & production which is unusually well 1avered both in matter of stars and Cirector. FBach episode has a “Yes, &0 on.” ending that leaves both the ero and heroine in a precarious posi- ticn. There are points of originality in the story and direction that are worth rientioning. In the first place, thers sre plenty of fights and last-minutc rescues to enliven the story. The hery doean’t fall in love with the heroine the first night in fact, he is engaged t> apother, and in the second place, therz is & fair sprinkling of humor all through the action. W. Christia Ca- banne’s direction is of course the bes . He has put on his thrills and fightinz Ecenes in good style and has handled 1ke suspense admirably. The photosra- | Taphy is very fine. and the excclient | -tinting gives the film an aristrocratic Enish. AT THE AUDITORIUM. Another Big Musical Comedy and Fea- ture Pictures Today. The management of the Auditorium have booked for all this week the Gus Rapler Musical Comedy company of 24 artists—mostly pretty girls. It is a Hrand new show for Norwich, with an entirely new cast with the exception Charles Clarke, one of the principal comedians, who has been seen herc before when he was with the White- side-Strauss repertoire show scveral seasons ago. Gus Rapier will be the prineipal funmaker and he promises to deliver a corking line of comedy with brand new jokes. etc. The bill for Monday and Tuesday will be a very funny one, full of witty lines, amusing situations, and will be interspersed with catchy song numbers by a very chorus of eight dainty girls. costumes, scenery, etc., are excel- lent, and altogether the show promises 0 _be a winner. The feature on the picture program will be The Doctor’s Secret, a merito- rious photoplay in five parts, featuring ihe distinguished royal actress Betty Nansen. The story deals with the dis- ‘covery of a serum for the cure of can- cer by a prominent doctor, the formuls, of which is known besides himself culy to his daughter. His assistant desirous of knowing. the formula, pre- tends to be in love with the doctor’s daughter in order to reach his goal Many complications develop whica Lring about an exciting as well as in- teresting photoplay. For the first half of this week an- pther big Bill of Keith headline acts is booked to appear at this theatre, any of the three acts could be the fea- trre, for every ome of them has jus: played the larger Keith houses. The omedy act will be furnished by John- fon Brothers and Johnson, three merry minstrel men. who sing and dance, teil fokes and are a little minstrel show all by themselves. Waltour and tho Princeton Girls will supply the novel- ty on the bill in a sensational acro- batic and cycHng act. This is tha same Bobbie Waltour, the world fa- mous bicycle rider who is known from toast to coast. Lillian Morley and the McCarty Sisters will lend a little diver- on In a dainty singing, dancing and tostume change specialty. Altogether the three acts should make a very en- ioyable entertainment. The Triangle fcatuve is Clara Williams and Willlam Desmond in The Criminal, a five-part sro@uction. It is a thrilling story of & girl born outside the social pale, in ser mative Italy, who is transported '0 America on a wave of immigration, 1nd _becomes, through her love for :hildren, involved in a kidnapping :ase. FLORA BELLA it the Davis Theatre Friday, Jan. 12. band, Prince Nicholas, chafes undec the monotony of a gquiet life. Then comes his discovery of a photograph of the princess as a dancer, which leads to the declaration that it is Flora Bella, @ twin sister. The prince is fascinated by the picture and quietly steals away to meet his Suj sister-in-law_at the Sign of the Golden Calf. The prin- cess at the same time is induced to return to the home of her former tri- umphs, just for one night, that she mway help place the one-time manager in his position. Nicholas makes violent love to the dancer who continues the character of Flora Bella. Then in the end he learns that the fascinating Flora Bella and demure Manja are just a dual personality and boredom is re- ilaced by marital passion. The music is by Charles Cuviller and Milton Schwarzwald rises to the heights of genuine musical comedy and includes a sensuous waltz duet that is tremen- dcusly popular. The book by Felix Doermann, revised and adapted by Cosmo Hamilton and Dorothy Donnel- 1y, is really witty, as are the 4yrics by Fercy Waxman. 'The cast will include Fleanor Henry, Viola Leach, Lily Leon- rd, Edith Mason, Lynn Pratt, Guy J. Samsel, Julian Rubell, Ben Grinnell, Jack Bell.
