Mansfield Goes to His Home in New Haven—Grand Officers Visit Narragansett Lodge— Death of Mrs. Elisha Hall 3 has a speaking acquaintance with per- haps half the adult population, whose belief in his innocence has been con- drmed by the united action of the jury. Mr. Mansfield left on the noon train, Saturday, for New Haven, where he makes his home with his sister. As ie has been exonerated from respon- sibility for the wreck, coupled with the fact that he has been a faithful and efliclent engineer for thirty years, and with an unblemished record, his reinstatement will be requested by the Brotherhood of Locomotive Ensinecrs. That there was keen interest in the trial of Engineer Charles H. K And thus he set until the court was for- mally adjourned. In making his way from the court house to the hotel, he was given enthusiastic reception, and was congratulated by many mnew friends. As soon as he could be re- tired, as he had no desire to make public celebration of his acquittal. The published reports that he was given a banquet after court adjourned are untrue. Four of the five persons, who were the victims of the railroad wreck were residents of the town of Westerly, and vet the verdict of not guilty was a popular verdict, as nearly every per- Local Laconics. A false alarm came in from Box 47, Beach street, Sunday - afternoon, and the two motor-driven apparatus ve- sponded. The grand officers of the grand lodge of Rhode Island made an official visit to Narragansett Lodge of Odd Fellows Saturday evening. A chicken dinner was served. The trolley line did a regular hot summer Sunday afternoon business uSnday, as almost everybody who could went to Watch Hill to view the ruins of the five fires of last Thurs- day night.
