The largest total of taxes ever col= lected in the history of New London was taken in by Collector Charles B. Douglas on the levy of 1915. Up to Aug. 1 it consisted of $33,309.42 levied on real estate and personal property and $1,781.80 on sidewalk improve- ments, In addition to this amount, Collector Douglas received, during the past ten months $42,362.69 in back taxes, of which $4,362.10 was for ac- crued interest. Since Oct. 1 last 170 liens have been released on real estate and personal property. The receipts for the ten months of the fiscal year expiring July 31 on the of 1915 alone eed those for the entire fiscal year of 1915 by more than $1,000, the total income for the latter period being $ , 686, The total levy for 1915 which was placed in the hand of Mr. Douglas for collecting is $399,45 for ordinary tax and $2,499.66 for sidewalk improvements. On th face of these returns a bal- ance of approximately $66,000 would Dbe still due the city.
