BALCONY EXITS FAULTY Those at Orpheum Theatre Must be Enlarged, By Order of State Police Acting under the orders of Chief Egan of the State police, Officer Al- fred L. Rudd of New London came here Monday afternoon and suspended the license of the Orpheum theatre. The action followed a visitation here by Chief Egan last Saturday, and was taken on the ground that the exits from the balcony are insufficient in size considering the number of seats in that section of the house. Mana- ger J. F. Lewis.immediately took the matter up by telephone with Chief Egan at Hartford. The result of the conference was that Mr. Lewis must close the balcony until such time as changes desired by the 'Dolice depart- ment are completed but the remain- der of the house is to be used as usual | H.
