The summer camp of the Rhode Is- land Boy Scouts will be on the shore of Yawcoog pond, and the Westeri: troop will be the first to go into camp, beginning their week’'s stay next Sat- urday, the camp being in readiness next Wednesday. It will be kept open until Aug. 20, or until every troop in the state has had a week of camp work. The nd is about three miles from Hope Junction and one mile from the Rcckvule post office. The camp grounds are situated on the shore of Yawcoog, which adjoins n.nother pond, Wincheck. There is a larmhouse on the grounds, and in it tb commigsary department will be stationed. There will also be a writ- ing room in the house. A large mess tent will be pitched next to the house and except in very wet weather, the boys will eat under it. The tents each housing eight boys, will be pitched in a meadow, back of the house. Ev- ery tent will be floored. There are sev and outbuildings, and a carpenter shop with tools for making rustic furniture for the camp will be provided. The buildings are about 160 yards|ed the lake shore on high land. The members of St. John's society met at their rooms and marched to the church, preceded by St. John’s band. The Roeary society, Children of Mary, stu- dents of the academy, St. Anne's so- ciety, St. Mary's guard, Children of Hary, the parochial school and Sacred Heart league met at Sodality hall, formed a procession and marched to the\church. As they passed down the main aisle the members of the differ- ent societies took their places in . the different aisles. Solemn vespers was sung by Rev. J. V. E. Belanger, assisted by Rev. Sam- uel Milner and Father Lynch. Amie Gordon and Walter Milner were mar- shals. Banners of different societies were carried by the presidents. At the conclusion of vespers the societies formed and moved to the right of the church and proceeded to the former St. Mary’s church on Church Hill, where a temporary altar had been erected. Following is the line: St. John's socisty, preceded by the bany, playing the Adesti Fidelis. The death of John Dougherty, son of Mr. d Mrs. Alexander Dougherty, occurred at St. Joseph's hospital, in Providence, R. I, Saturday morning at about 7.30 o'clock. ‘was due to appendicitis. A week ago Satur- day he was rushed to the hospital where he underwent an operation after which chances for his recovery were never considered bright. . He was a member of this fir‘l graduating class at Planfielid Gram mar school and played on the fast baseball and basketball teams. He was an efficient musician, having play- ed the violin on numerous occasions at St. John’s church.
