Geraldine Farrar in the Photo Play, “Carmen,” Main Attraction For Next Week Monday, Tuesday, and Wed- nesday. The greatest photodramatic pro- fiuction ever seen on the screen will be bhe attraction at the Auditorium on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday, when Geraldine Farrar, the celebrat- ed prima donna will appear in a film version of her famous opera, Carmen, produced by the Jesse L. Lasky com- pany. In securing the appearance of Miss Farrar before the motion picture ramera, the Lasky company scored the greatest coup in the history of the motion picture industry. This dis- tinguished international artist had held herself aloof from scores of fattering offers to appear before the camera until she was approached by a representative of the Lasky organi- etion. In Carmen Mies Farrar is seen os the half-wild, fascinating gypsy who is the head of a band of smugglers, How she leads one man to death and of the local Y. M. C. A. some ten years agc. There will doubtless be a larze crowd of men in attendance and those who intend coming are urged to he on hand very promptly as ‘he boy mus cian has anotler engagement which Wi make it necessary for him o niay in the early part of the service. Ad- mission is free to all men. Doors open at 3 o'clock. The Preaching Mission. ‘The Preaching M sion, to be con- ducted by Bishop Acheson next week in the Norwich Episcopal churches, is part of a nation-wide movement. In 1912 the general convention of the Episcopal church adopted a resolution calling upon this church throughout the land to undertake a preachine mission of nation-wide proportions. It was felt that “an age calls in no un- certain way for a revival of the pro- phetic ministry, and a reemphasis up- on the certain and unchanging words of ecternal truth that pertain to sal- vation.” While an important part of the purpose of the mission is to deep- en the spiritual lives of the members of the churches in which it is held, 2 1o less important part will be the endeavor to bring home the truths of the Gospel in a plain ana straichtforward way, to the hearts and consciences of all who attend the ser- vices. The evening services will he of an evangelistic character. ‘The preaching will be done by ~ Bishon Achesen, Including a sermon and after— Instruction. ~ The bishop will also hold himsélf in readiness to meet all who may wish to consult him private The singing will be led by a choru cholr of thirty volces.” The clors: of the churches will be glad to rend- er service to all who may care to ask it. There will be holy communion ev- ery_morning. For further details. cards will be freely furnished.
