O. Oxoboxo lodge, F. & A. M. and O. U. A. M, which had their lodge rooms in the Palmer Memorial building, have se- cured the use of a building owned by Mrs. Ida Browning. This buliding was_formerly used by Mr. Browning in the wagon making business. The building is large, having two floors and will accommodate the lodges, there being ample room for degree work. The building is being changed and fixed up for occupancy. The al- terations and improvements will be under the supervision of the Masons. Concert and Tree. Under the supervision of the com- mittee, Mrs. Annie B. Newton, Mrs. Mary Newton, Mrs. Charles Ramage, Mrs. Wiiliam Noble, Miss Vera Bart- lett the Sunday school of the Metho- dist church had a Christmas concert and tree Chrisimas eve. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Bunnell have moved from Palmertown to a tenement in Pequot, owned by Fred Bergman. Country Club’s Dance. The first dance of the Country Club was given in Hickey's hall on Friday night with an attendance of about twenty couples. Hickey's orchestra furnished music for a program of twenty numbers which was enjoyed by those attending. During inter- mission refreshments were served. The success of the cvening's pleasure was due the committee in charge: Henry St. Germain, Ely Clark, Lewis La Bounty, Dudley Neff and Lewis Peters. Obliged to Burn Wood. On account of the scarcity of bitum- inous coal the Keyes Product Co. are using wood as fuel, two teams being kept busy carting in order to keep the mill running. The_household goods of Rev. and Mrs. W. H. Lakin, arrived and were unloaded into the Baptist parsonage this week. Mr. Lakin's pastorite with the church begun on Sunday morning. The church has been without a reg- ular pastor since last August. Palmer Bros. Co. will close down their mill for the holidays and during the time the annual inventory will be taken. The company is making pre- parations to occupy a portion of the brick stock house as an office. The building they mow occupy for an office will be torn down and a fence put up inclosing and much improving the corner torn down. Mail Carrier J. Percy Morgan, has purchased a new runabout, for pleas- ure and business. His route is a large one and he covers about twenty miles of territory daily. Last Sunday morning the pastor's sermon was from I Thessalonians, 5: 19, “Quench not the spirit.” The thought of the crime against one’s self in moral suicide, smothering the right impulses within one, was the theme. Sudden Death of George Gurley— Funeral of Mrs. Wally Chandler. George Gurley, 40, died Monday night, Dec. 13th, at his home the Old Bowen place, about a mile east of the village, after a few hours' illness from apoplexy. He was born in Chaplin. Prayer was offered at the grave by Welcome Davis. He leaves a number of brothers and sisters. Mrs. Chandler’s Death. After an illness of two years with tuberculosis, Mrs. Wally = Chandler, died at her home in North Ashford, Friday morning, Dec. 17. She was 25 years old. She leaves her husband, two small children, her mother, broth- ers and sisters. The funeral was held at the Baptist church, North Ashford, Rev. P. S. Collins, officiating. Burial was in the North Ashford cemetery. Edward Keith, while working at a circular saw In Keith's mill, Wednes- day, sawed into his hand.
