IN OLD KENTUCKY At the Davis Theatre Friday. “Of all the To paraphrase alittle, plays we love so well, there’§ none like Old Kentucky,” at least, so it would seem from the number of times the play. has been seen in the larger cities and the enthusiastic welcome that hae always greeted it on each vis- it. In Old Kentucky, written over 22 years ago by C. T. Dazey, has pleased more theatregoers than any drama, now current, unless it should be _the’ late Denman Thompson's historical New England drama, The Old Home- stead. It comes here shortly, with new laurels gained during its late spring engagement at the big Boston theatre, where it repeated its earlier New England triumphs during an extended engagement which closed late in April. | The wild-eyed reformer with the modern fad play looks aghast at the continuous popularity of a wholesome drama like this blue-grass story—but it has dutlived the changes in the amusement world, successfully battled with the mighty film drama of the present--and on it goes—always to victery: To the victor belongs the spoils, so In Old Kentucky has rolled up untold profits during the 2 of its continuous presentati American stage. Battleships without number, battleships of every description, and auxiliaries of the latest and most novel types appear in this mcnster feature, and today's event is a tibrilling one. It deals with Neal's taking the exams for Annapolis. Joe Welclier, another survivor of the earth- quake, who is envious of Neal, pute stolen’ examination papers in Neal's pockets, . and Neal, unaware of this, starts for U. S. navy.
