Troop E In Camp. Troop E of the United States cav- alry of Fort Ethan Allen, broke camp at Askiford early Tgesday morning and moved on making a stop at South ‘Windham, where they will be cagped for the next week or ten days in the large field of the Ponemab company, just _across the road from the South Windham schoolhouse. Troop E is composed of thirty-five men with horses for each soldier and a few draft Norses for work and hauling freight. The saddle horscs are used by the soldiers in their survey of twenv-five miles square of the coun- try in this vicinity, the soldiers being sent out by the United States govern- ment on one of its progressive mili- tary map surveys. The survey party consists of four. One physician, who attends the four troops in this part of the state and makes calls on camps at Putnam, Willington, Soutk Windham and Enfield. The commanding offi- cers of Troop E.camp consist of one captain and three lleutemants. Sur- vey parties from E Troop were at work in this city Thursday and one was on_Plesant street and adjoining hills including Hosmer mountain. It was h'nted by one of the men in an- other party: that the War Department plans to hold big militacy maneuvers in this section of New Ensland in the future possibly next.year and the hills will be known on the maps by num- bers the same as in the European ba tlefields. ~ Local Brevities.
