Today (Saturday) Mr. and James P. Little will in a quiet way oObserve the 50th anniversary of their marriage. They were married on the morning ot 1865, tn Co- lumbia, by Rev. Frederik D. Avery, then pastor of Columbia Congrega- tional church. Mrs. Little was Miss Esther A. Collins, daughter of Ruf and Olive Potter Collins. Mr. Lits is the son of Samuel and Clarissa Pinnes Little. Both were residents of Columbia at the time of their mar- riage and have since resided here. Mr. Little conducted a successful farming business until 1908, when he sold his farm property and purchased the plac on Columbia Green where he 'now sides. He represented his town in t tamous “deadlock” legislature of 1891~ 2. and was elected senator from the then 23d district in 1894. = Politically he has alivays been a_ staunch repub- lcan, casting his first presidential vote fér Abraham Lincoln tn 1864, and never missed voting at every state and presidential election, and but once at the anndal town election, since he was made am elector in 1363. He has been the Norwich Bulletin's Columbia correspondeht for mearly half a cen- ury. Eugene Oehlers, the 15 vehr od son of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Oehlers of this place. was graduated from the Windham high school in Jume, and now proposes to take a postgraduate course. After graduating he tcok the Yale examinations and passed on 11 out of 14 studies’scoring 12 1-2 points out of the 15 required to enter Yale. But he can enter Columbia university on his present standing. Club’s Tenth Successful Year. The W. S. S. E. Ladies’ olub held a lawn party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Isham in West street, Tues- day afternoon, about twenty being present. It was the 20th anniversary of the formation of the club, Sept. 7, 1905. During these vears the club has accumulated by its various fairs and entertainments, given in Columbia and other towns, the sum of $77L96.
