Special Committea. ANNOUNCEMBTI'S DAVIS THEATRE TODAY. Captain Magklin, Four Part Mutual Master Picture—Five Beauties and a 8pot, Keith Vaudeville Attraction. “ “The hot weather has no effect on the| attendance at this popular theatre, and cvaryon- is speaking about the cool inside, which is always 20 ~headliner called Five Beauties and a Spot. This is one of the classi- est musical comedy acts in vaudevills there are five pretty girls and one fun- ny comedian. The giris. are all clever and sing alone. The songs they use are mostly popular, but there are sev- eral high class numbers introduced. The comedian has some clever eccen- tric dences that he introduces ' and there are several dancing numbers in- troduced by the chorus. —Pretty cos- tumes and ;npech.l settings give the act an air of tinctness which places it in a class by itself. The feature picture today and to- morrow is another Mutual master pic- ture by Richard Harding Davis called Captain Macklin, a feature drama in four reels, Most of the scenes in this stirring story of adventure are laid in Honduras during an exciting revolu- tion in that tempestuous.country. Al- though full of plot and intrigue, th; play. is saved from sensationaliem b &n_ exquisite love ‘theme. Lillian Gish is featured as the star, and no better selection could have been made than this talented young genius, “who has created so many trying parts Bnd who has earned the distinction of being one of the most admired players in _the screen world. Hairbreadth escapes and perilous situations rivet the interest of the onlooker. from beginning to end. There Bre heroic charges, military maneu- _vers, hand-to-hand fighting. No de- tail in staging this drama of modern ‘warfare has been overlooked, and while there are startling climaxes and dra- matic situations, n is not in any sense & "blood and thunder™ play. Conway, as Royal Macklin, plays the part with youthful dash and fire, radlllng to the full the author’s ideal. He looks the West Pointer through and through and is every inch a sol- dier: Mr. Altken’s Laguerre is a fine » and there is a splendid com- pany of supporting players. Mutual Movies and Komic Komedies complete the show. COLONIAL THEATRE. Thirty, Two-Rgel Essanay Drama Fi turing Francis Bushman.
