Congdon, 'of Mystic, health officer of Stonington, of his investigation of certain cases of illness, said to have been caused by eating pies made at Gavitt's restaurant, In Pawcatuck, July third, fourth and fifth: My attention was called to the trouble Tkursday afternoon, July Sth. I immediately went to the restaurant and made a thorough inspection of the entire premises. Everything was found neat, clean and sanitary, All ‘windows and doors properly screened, perishable foods protected in the re- frigerator and the entire place orderly and free from dirt and objectionable odors. ‘No canned goods, milic Pow- der, canned eggs or other cheap sub- stifutes for fresh pure fodd were found. ' On a shelf was found e tin can of insect powder with the cover secure. 1 was told none had been used in several weeks. There was standing in a corner a tin can of liquid securely corked. This was a propri- etary article used as a. spray .for |t roaches that sometimes came through the partitions. It was used at night after all the work was done.
