The attraction booked for this the- itre for next week js the Winter Gar- en Revue, a big singing show of 14 people, who present one of the best Rabloid shows on the road. Every pnember of the company is a good inger and the comedians are funny all e time. A big beauty chorus of cing girls make up the show. The dea of the show is taken from the big \Winter Garden show in New York and s put on by this_company only on a ismaller scale. Special scenery and pretty costumes all help to make the ishow the big success it is. A special and the equivalent in ordinary portions of that number of ounces. Also the exact proportions in which each of the three, elements is found in said food. To make one’s daily ration conform to the scientific _standard requires careful planning and more figuring than the average mortal has time for. But If one has reason to think that one’s diet is not right, the advice of a physician can be sought. Should he recommend an_increased or decreased consumption of protein, fat or carbo- hydrates a general knowledge of food values will enable one to follow his advice. I have compiled some lists which may prove helpful. The figures indi- cate the number of calories in an or- inary portion. In a few instances the quantity is given in ounces instead of in portions. The following are rich in protein— beefsteak (round) 60 calories in 1.9 small serving; porterhouse steak, 34 calories 1.2 small serving; roast beef, 34 calories, 12 small serving; dried lean beef, 71 calories, 2 ounces; calves' liver, 62 calories, 2.8 ordinary serving: pork liver, 65 calories, 2.6 ordinary serving; roast leg of lamb, 41 calories, corn, rice, custard pudding, bread, blackberries, sugar, coffee cake, cream for cereal and berries. Total number of calories, 2.024. Ration No. 3—Without meat: One banana, cream of wheat, sugar, 1-8 glass of cream, pea puree, crackers, celery, mashed potatoes, bread, butter, rice pudding, breaded tomatoes, pear sauce, cake, butter. Total number of calories, 2,199. % There is but a slight difference be- tween the number of calories in the first ration and the number in each of the last two. I am not advocating strict vegetari- anism, but feel that many people would' find it beneficial to both healta and purse to eat less meat. Having_discoursed at such length I will add but one thing more. That is my hearty approval of the date sug- gested for the picnic at Coventry. One of the strongest dramas of the day is offered in the film enttiled Polson, a two-reel offering of _the Kalem cast, in which appears Prof. Lewis B. Aliyn of Westfield, Mass., the ‘advocate of the pure food movement, @as originated by him, and Tom Moore, the genial local favorite; also Mar- guerite Courtot, his fascinating little leading lady. The play deals with a Wealthy manufacturer of adulterated foods. Refusing to listen to his son’s repeated criticisms of the methods and products, the manufacturers little daughter opens a jar of the jam as ®old by her father and is taken vio- lently ill with the coaltar-dved product pnd barely escapes with her life. A visit to Prof. Lewis B. Allyn of West- Held, Mass., shows the error of the Ways also, and a new factory is erect- 2d on the site of the one which burned furing the child’s illness. Other splen- 4id features today are Her Country Cousin, The Black Diamond, secret service film, and When Samuel Skid- ded, comedy.
