Miss Helen Adams of Norwich was the week-end guest of Mrs. Arthur Smith. S. N. Hyde was a recent Hartford visitor. Mrs. Charles Beckwith and Mrs. George Kahn were Jewett City visitors Thursday. : A party consisting of Ernest Smith, Huntington Lathrop, Mrs. Arthur Smith and Miss Florence Geer were in Hartford Thursday, making the trip in Ernest Smith’s new automobile. Easter the Theme. The subject will be Easter at the Congregational church Sunday, and there will be special music by the choir. Mrs. Theodore Smith has returned home, after spending several months in Swansea. 9 Successful Social. A very enjoyable social was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs, George Kshn, Tuesday evening of last week with a large attcndance. The enter- tainment consisted of dialogues and music. LIBERTY HILL Woodland Fire Threatens Clubhouse —Burial of Mrs. Sarah H. Jones. Miss Annie Harvey, teacher of the district school has been ill for two weeks past, but is convalescent. Her sister, Mrs. Everett C. Payson 1is taaching for her. The C. E. society had a social at the parish hall Thursday evening. A steam saw mill is located on the Leverett Brothers’ farm. Mr. Leverett is having lumber sawed for a new ‘barn. Henry U. Oehler's mother of New York, has been the guest at his home the past week. Mrs, E. A. Noyes returned to her home here Friday after spending the winter with her daughters. Threatening Fire. A fire started in the woods at Short Hills near Leonard Bridge station Monday noon_ burning over a large tract of woodland. About 50 men fought the fire. It was not put out until the heavy snow squall on Tues- days morning. The fire came with- in a few hundred feet of Liberty club house. i Burial of Mrs. Jones. Mrs. Sarah H. Jones died in Hart- ford Sunday noon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. J. B. Church. The body was brought to Exeter Wednes- day for burial.
