U. was held Sunday cvening in the Congregational church, The program was in charge of the executive com- mittee with Mrs. James Bennett, presi- dent of the local union presiding. An explanation of the origin of and work done by the Willard Memorial fund was given by Miss Caroline Gallup. Rev. M. J. B. Fuller spoke on Mile- stones in the progressive work of the past. \Mrs. Bennett gave interesting sketches of the lives of Miss Susan Anthony and Miss Frances Willard. Special music by the choir and a solo by Mrs. Frank Smith added to the pro- gram. Patriotic Social. A Washington social was given Mon- v evening by the Ladies’ Guild under the direction of Mrs. Standish. A batriotic program given by the children W, much enjoyed. Readings were given Miss Jane Chapman Gellup, and Miss Caroline Gallup. A violin solo by August Bannier, accompanied by Mrs. Burdick and also the patri- otic songs by the chorus were enjoyed.
