In the story she marries (against her father's will) a clerk in his employ, although she is beloved hy a member of the firm. After the marriage she discovers the true nature of her hus- band, when he is stealing from his father-in-law’s safe. Thus cornered, he commits murder, and in attempting to escape he is injured and carried to the lair of smugglers. Lafer Alice Te- marries, presuming her husband dead, He aftérwards appears on the scene again and in a sensational episode is prevented from doing harm to her, re- ceiving . death blow himeelf. Coming Mondey and Tuesday is Ethel Barrymore in the season’s greatest film triumph; The Nightingale in five reels. NEW CREPE PAPER . ROPE WEAVING For the Making of Inexpensive and Effective Gifts. Weaving with crepe paper rope has developed a form of handwork that is fascinating because of its many bilities and because it “ maki it a delightful pastime for those who cannot do close work that is trying to the eves. The material is very inexpensive and many beautiful sifts may be made at low cost. The rope is used in the same way as any other material that is used in basket making. The foundation of ‘each article is of wires covered with crepe paper of the same color as the rope used. When the article is finish- éd it may be shellacked or not, as de- sired. The shellac gives a hard, glossy finish and tends to darken the color. Minjature flowers made of two thicknesses. of crepe paper pasted to- gether to make petals and formed into garlands that are glued to vases, etc, add a pleasing decoration.
