Arthur Topliff and family of Provi- dence are at the homestead for two weeks. Club Mesting. ‘The Hilltop Homes' club met with Mrs. A. E. Petérson the 1l4th. This was an interesting and highly instruc- tive session. - Brundage of C. A. C. was present and gave a demonstra- tion in canning fruits and vegetables. Corn on the cob and cut from the cob, whole tomatoes, apples, whole and sliced, string beans, peacheés and peas were prepared and. canned dur- ing the afterncon. Prof. Brundage explained every detail of the process and the uses of the different canners. This was very timely, as it is well known that nearly 60 per cent. of the early fruits and vegetables are wasted. In view of the high cost of living, it behooves farmers’ wives to perfect themselves in the are of canning, and supply their tables during the winter with the best at a small outlay. MT.
