From the expressions heard at the meeting of the lodge Sunday afterncon, all the members feel that the public of this city and vicinity have turned.out in laree numbers and much better than might have been expected under the canditions. This is due, mo doubt, in great measure, to fhe size of the af- fair, which is the biggest gregation ever gathered tegether in s eity for a carnival. Local Effects of the War. The floor was thrown open to the public to dance and many took ad- vantage of the opportunity, although, the heat rendered dancing uncom- fortable untii the early evening.
