Gladding of the Phoenix i Mutual Life Insurance company, for- merly of Norwich, describes a doc ment that has signatures of Norwich men of prominence. It is a subscrip- tion list circulated by the father-in- law of Mr. Gladding, the late David Moore, of Norwich, for a Fourth of town in 1858. Although 56 years old on July 4, the paper is in & good state of preservation. Mr, Gladding found it recently among the effects of his father-in-law and he will present it to the Connecticut Historical society in Hartford. x The paper is dated June 17, 1858, and the persons whose names are at tached subscribed for a Fourth of July | entertainment” for the benefit of the citizens of Norwich and surrounding towns, raising almost $400 for that | purpose.
