U far as the town of Westerly is ned the Third district court is \pporting and bills in connection i that court are never presented to Westerly town ecouncil for action, < the town asked to make appro- wtion for station house or police ex- penses. There is always expense in cornection with the care of prisoners in the police station, and the police officers are required to incur expense in running down criminals. Chief Thomas E. Brown explains that all ex- penses incurred by the police in line of duty and the care of prisoners in the police station was from a_fund made up of fees paid the police in the Third district court. He said that did not signify that a fund was always available, for there was not. In that event the feed for the prisoners and the officers’ expenses in connection with hunting of criminals were paid he Charles W. Bray, a resident of West- erly for the past 32 years, died Satur- day morning of pneumonia, after a short illness. «t his home in Main street. Mr. Bray was born in Millville, Mass., a son of Willlam H. and Mary Bray, 42 vears dgo.
