Plans will be completed in about a week by Architect E. W. Maynard of Boston for a new theatre to be erect- ed on State street for the New Eng- land Amusement Cowmpany. The pro- prietors are David B. Roberts of Hart- ford, Dr. T. J. O’Loughlin, Rockville and Messrs Johnson & Noyes of Bos- ton. The building will be 50x145 feet, four stories high, of brick, steel and concrete, fireproof construction. On the first fioor will be the theatre entrance with a store on each side. Plans Accepted. ‘At a meeting of the trustees of the Connecticut College for Women in the Mohican hotel Tuesda afternoon it was voted to accept the floor and ele- vation plans of the architects, Ewing & Chappell, for the first group of five buildings. The architects were also instructed to prepare at once work- ing plans for the establishment of streets through the grounds, together | with water, sewer, heat and light con- | duits. In the same city T. E. Macfarland is about to build a brick factory, one story high and 112x32 feet. Torrington concerns are expand- ing. The Torington Brush Works will erect a two-story factory on a new site on Calhoun street, 30x60 feet. Real estate sales by warranty deed recorded in the towns covered by The Commercial Record are slightly larg- er than for the same week of last while there is a decrease in the amount of mortgage loans. During the week tbere were 294 sales, with mortgage loans of $663,864, as against 269 sales and morigage loans of $769,- 839 last year. Petitions in bankruptey for the week numbered seven, with assets of $18,865 and liabilities of $5(,437. During the third week of November last year no bankruptey petiticns were recordsd.
