At a meeting of the gas and electri- cal commissioners on Wednesday even- ing at the office in the Alice building, at which the chairman, Dr. J. J. Dono- | hue, presided, & vote was passed to change the location of the pump house at the plant on North 'Main _street which supplies the water from the well in the river for the use of the turbine engine. It is now located so that the pump lifts the water along 110 feet of pive to deliver it to the turbine. Sdpt. 8. J. Kehoe pointed out that this was a faulty method of construc- tion and did not allow the pump to do as effective work. as if it were placed at the riverbank, so that it would be the entryway to the Norwich Optical,! company rooms. George Romulous was fined $16.16 for fighting. Joseph Lydon of Mystic, who has been hanging around town for ten days, was advised to leave as soon as possible. IMPROVED TYPE OF SEWER CONSTRUCTION. Civil Engineer Pitcher Going to Hart- ford to Investigate. For the purpose of investigation of a new system of sewer construction, which seems to have advantages over sewers built of brick, Civil Engineer George E. Pitcher is to go to Hartford on Saturday, where a sewer of this type is being built.
