A ore Have New Form of Tax List. Within a ehort time from now Kil- lingly citizens will be called upon to flle with the assessors of the town & list of thelr taxable property. Thi year this duty involves one's becom- ing famillar with the form of tax list prescribed by the state board of equal- ization, this form being very much different from the ones that have been in use. It is more complicated and more complete and Will require some study from taxpayers that they All it out correctly, which they are fully competent to do Af they will only give the matter a little time and at- tentlon. Charies B. Hutchins, one of Killing- Iy’s assessors, now has some samples of the form to be used this year. These he will be pleased to show to anyone interested. The new form. re- quires a taxpaver to certify more in detail as to his holdings than has pre- viously been necessary garages and sllos being among other things enu- merated in the form and required to be entered by those owning such prop- erties. The reverse slde of the new forms is subdivided Into sections, with directions to the taxpayer as how to enumerate the lands, lots and choses in action, with a description thereof, that he owns. The reverse side is also glven over In part to a section where is to be listed taxable bonds or notes, with date of issue, Interest bearing rate, date of maturity, par value, etc. Aftention fs called to the change of form at this time at the request of assessors, who are usually called upon to fill out nearly 75 per cent. of the tax lists of peopietin town. While the assessors will always be willing to as- sist_anyone on any point pertaining to the making out of tax lists, there 18 a feeling that the making out of three out of every four lists by the nssessors by reason of the fact that taxpayers do not want to trouble themselves with the obligation is altogether too much to ask of the taxing officials, who are not tabulously compensated for the work they do for the town. The as- ors should not be expected to do this list making, though they are will- ing at any time to explain to a-tax- paver any point over which he may be in doubt.
