There is a fiispesition on the part of a large num- ber of those who adhere to the party to fend their suppert te the best inter- ests of local government and in New Haven the endersement of the repub- liean mhayor is propesed; in prefer= ence to the idea of naming a separate tieket and thereby not only throw away their vetes, but aid in the elee: tion of the democratic ticket. The question of supporting what is knewn te be for the best interests of the community ought not to require much deliberation, especially by these who profess to look and aim higher han others, and it is pretty good ad- vice which D. E. Croft of the New Haven progressives gives, in urging the support of Mayor Rice, when he says every progressive strip his mind of p onal prejudice, of party feeling, of political emotion, and stand loya his city.
