The sentte in concurrence with the house has. rejected the bill relative to | the reduction of rates of the New Lon- don-Groton ferry. The senate adopted the bill authorizing the city of Nor- wich to issue bonds. The committee on fish and game has made favorable report on a bill which provides that no person shall take any smelt from the -waters of Palmer’s cove, Poquonnoc river, or Baker's cove, or their tributaries, in the town of Groton, by means of a net, seine or trap. The penalty shall not exceed $25 for each offense. Favorable report has been made by the committee on cities and boroughs ending the charter of the borough Jewett City, which provides that the fiscal year shall begin on the first of January. Following is ths text of an act con- eerning sm on street cars, which has been favorably reported by the raiiroad committée: “Any person who, passenger upon a ciosed street car, except & car which has a smoking compartment, shall, when requested by the conductor in charge of such car, refuse to obey any reasonable rule, in plain view, concerning smok- or the carrying of lighted cigars, cigarettes or pipes, shall be fined not more than five dollars for each of- Sense.” “The committee on appropriations has favorable reports on acts appro- $3,200 for the maintemance of the ferry between Lyme and Chester, for the ensuing two fiscal years, and $2,000 for the maintenance of the drawbridge between Waterford and | Hast Lyme over the Niantic river.
