Perkins to build an addition to the Bruckner building on Franklin street and the petition was granted. Petition for permission to build the new freight platform at the freighthouse of the New York, New Haven and Hartford railroad was referred to the fire commfssioners, and similar action was taken with the pe- tition of the John T. Young Boiler company for permission to build a foundry 136x66 on the land owned by the company abutting the rear of Falls avenue. Wants Laurel Hill Dump Discontinued The petition of Benjamin Hall and 20 others residing in the vicinity of the Laurel Hill park to prohibit the use of the land to the west of the park as a dumping ground was referred to the public works committee. Complaint was made that the odor was offensive and that papers and refuse were blown about the neighboring dooryards. Park Additions. The petition of the park commis- sioners to approve the additions to Mohegan park by the deed of Dr. John A, Rockwell, Dec. 31, 1812, was ac- cepted and it was voted to consider the matter at a public hearing on March 3. Petitions. A petition for a crosswalk on Falls avenue between the buildings of Max Gordon & Son and the Norwich Indus. trial company, signed by several com. panies located in that section, was re. ferred to the public works committee. A petition for crosswalks on the east- erly side of West Thames street ai Newcomb street and at Nelson place, or for a betterment of present cordi tions, was referred to the same com- mittee. Sidewalk Favored. The public works committee report- ed on the petition of the Norwich Nickel and Brass company for a side- walk along the easterly side of Chest- nut street between Willow street and Franklin street, and recommended that property owners be required to lay a stone or granolithic walk four feet wide, at their own expense, on the lines and grades prescribed in the re- port, the wcrk to be completed by May 1, 1913, to the satisfaction of the street committee. The report was cepted and it was voted to hold a hear ing of those interested on March 3. $100 for Injuries to Horse. The location of said railway line is as follows: Beginning at the present tracks on Franklin street at its intersection with Boswell avenue, thence north-easterly along the highway known as Boswell avenue to Pratt street. The proposed method of construction is a tee rall and wooden cross-tie type of track construction, with the over- head under-running trolley system, having track returns, as follows: Ralil in track to be in 60 foot length: Ties 8 inch x 8 inch x 8 ft, chestnut or white oak, spaceq two feet center to center. Bonds 4-0 protected type. Present poles to remain as now located. Where new poles may be required, first quality chestnut poles will be used. Span wire construction to be used with nized steel strands. Trolley wire to be 4-0 copper wire 18 feet above the surface of the street. All material and construction to be first-class quality. All portions of the highway disturbed to be left in as good condition as found. Reports and Bills. The report of the work by the etreet department, showing expenses of $1726.89 was accepted. During the month an average of 38 men were em- employed by the department. The re- port of City Treasurer C. 8. Avery was accepted.
