SHORT CALENDAR SESSION IN SUPERIOR COURT Haydn Three Uncontested Divorces Allowed Here on Friday—Other Matters Be- fore Judge Shumway. At the short calendar session of the superior court in_this city on Fri- day before Judge Shumway three un- contested divorces were sanctioned and one was postponed. In three other cases the judge took the papers and a number “were settled or otherwlse disposed of. Ethra M. Maine, whose maiden name was Taylor and who was married to Howard E. Main of North Stonington on September 28, 1911 was grapted a decree on the grounds of intolerable cruelty and Intemperance. Mrs. Main told of her husband flourishing a re- volver and a big knife, threatening her and beating her, Jennie D. Burdick was given a di- vorce from Charles E. Burdick on the grounds of desertion and was allowed to, resume her maiden name.of Stew- art. They were married in Sprague on June 26, 1888, and he left his wife four years ago. Emma Mary Knipe was given a di- vorce from Thomas E. Knipe, who married her in_ Stonjngton, Sept. 29, 1894, and later desertéd her. She was allowed to resume the qame of Kais- ted. Decision on the adion of Fran- ces W. Willett for a divorce from Lazarus W. Willett was postponed. Papers were filed with the clerk the court by Hedwig B. Cone of Nor- wich for a divorce from Orrin H. Cone, Her maiden name was Berggrew and they were married on Feb. §, 1907. The charge is Intolerable cruelty and desertion. She asks the custody of 0 4 vear-old son. In the cases of Harrls vs. Benjamin, of the John T. Young Bailey company vs. Clinton F. Smith and his wife, and of the Jewett City Savings bank vs. Hendrick et al,, the judge took the pa- pers. An allowance of 3.50 cach week from now until the case is tried was allowed Grace L. Snyder Main of North Stonington, pending_her divorce sult against Leonard R. Main. Two weeks were allowed for answers in the cases of Garret vs. Bogue, Occhlalini vs. Harocca and Lewis vs. Pease. An al- lowance of $35 to defend was made in the divorce action of Stephen C. Feénn against Effie May Palmer Fenn. Judge Shumway granted leave to amend complaint in the action of Wilfred O. Stanton vs. Nellie Stan- ton, and in the Main divorce case three weeks were allowed to bring in a more | particular statement vs. the Uncas Power comp vs, the Niantic Menhaden Guano company, and Spottswood, admyx. vs. the Connecticut company.
