Difference in T;no Kept Clayton Sew- ard Three Hours Ahead of Home Folks. Clayton Seward, son of City Clerk and Mrs. F. W, Seward, in far away San Francisco on the Pacific coast, heard at 1 g¢'clock Wednesday after- noon that the Boston Red Sox had won the world’s baseball champlon- ship, while here In Pu x Seward's old home, only 60 miles from Boston, the fans were on edge until 4 ?l’: ock awaiting the announcement of Seward had the news three hours ahead of those at home and an hour ahead of the time that the last and decisive game was started in Fenway park. This apparent ahead-of-the- home-boys proposition, and getting the result an hour ahead of the calling of the game, all becomes simple when one stops to think that there is ap- proximately three hours’ difference in time between Boston and San Fran- cisco, and that when the big event was started in Boston at two o'clock it was only 11 a. m. in 'Frisco town, where Mr. Seward has been following the world's series, play by play, since the games ‘were commenced more than a week ago. This information comes from Mr. Seward in a letter just re- celved by his father, so it I8 not as- suming much to take it for granted that he was at the bulletin board on Wednesday when the news was flash- ed that Johnny McGraw and his brave crew had flnally failed to spill the beans for the Boston boys. Mr. Sew- ard writes that interest in the big gerles was very keen on the coast.
