Louise Harris was given a surprise party Friday evening at the Harris homestead by the members of her Sunday school class and intimate friends. Recovering from Injuri Mrs. David Copp-Smith, who was so seriously injured in a trolley col- lision at Avery’s Corner, North Ston- ington, four weeks ago, was removed from 'Mrs. Driggs' residence where she and her cousins were taken di- rectly-after the accident, to the Junior farm, West Mystic, the home of Mrs. Smith. Miss Kate Copp was carried there, also. They stood the journey well, but are still in the care of the graduate nurse. The Reading club was entertained by Miss Alice Satterlee Wednesday afternoon. THe reading of Stoddard's lectures was continued by Mrs. Court- land E. Colver.. Mrs, Harlan N. Perkins also contributed to the afternoon program, Miss Perkins giving the first reading on Social Progress in Contemporary Europe, by Frederick Austin Ogg, one of the books of this vear's course of the Chautauqua Home Reading course. The club was addressed during the afternoon by Rev. C. Wilson Harrison and Rev. Edward C. Bass of Provi- dence, who, with Rev. James B. Ald- rich of Uncasville, was in the place, representing the needs of the confer- ence claimants’ fund, of which Rev. Mr. Bass is the financial agent.
