The blue prints and plans submit- ted to the committee Dby Architect Gray of Boston, show the curb as be- ing laig out with four entrances to the monument, one from the front, one from the rear and one from both North and East Main streets. The maln entrance in front to have the steps flanked with two granite columns, instead of the arch as first roposed, each column to bear a ronze tablet with the inscription, Daving Hale Fanning Park, and two ornamental lamps on top, flanked on either side by an exedra, providing seats for people to rest on. This will give symmetry to the shang point, and will give an added interest to the ap- proach to the monument from the down town end of the triangle. The committee, not deeming it within their province to act relative to the removal of the trees in accord- ance with Mr. Fanning’s plan, voted to ask Warden McCarthy to call a bor- ough meeting of the freemen that-a vote might be obtained. Chairman Haskell waited upon the warden Sat- urday with this end in view, but, up. on. investigation of the borough char- ter, it was found that the board of borough gévernment was invested ‘'with power to remove any tree at its discretion. Mr. Fanning has been in- formed of these actions, and will again send his architect and surveyor here this week to confer with Warden Mc- Carthy and the committee relative to smmediate procedure, The blue prints and plans of the monument park or new proposed entrance can be seen at the home of E. H. Hiscox on Main street. ST SILVER ANNIVERSARY et b Commemorated by Friends of Mr. and Mrg, Thomas MoBrpom Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McBroome ‘were married twenty-five years ago Friday.
