8 ~New London Gdunty- LEDYARD | Local Foxes Due to Disappear Before Onslaught of* Haddam Trapper— Dogs Ravage Lantern Hill Turkey Coops. J. ©. Brainard of Haddam recently wrote to the selectmen in regard to trapping foxes, at which he said he was an expert, and would like the privilege to trap the same. He was notitied by the selectmen that they had no right to stop him catching foxes if he complied with the law, and they had no right to give him permission to trap the same. He must get per- mission from the different owners of jand in regard to trespass, etc. Since then he has been in town getting the permission from some owners of land to trap on. He claims to know the secret of catching foxes and intends to make his residence in town. He is a Grand Army man and looks very much like Buffalo Bill, Col. William F. Cody. He worked six years ago on the Rocke- feller estate in the Adirondacks, an es- tate of 52,000 acres, trapping and catching foxes. He exhibited a photo- graph of himself with 67 fox uqua taken by himself in one season. His sale of furs last year amounted to near- ly $800. Dogs Kill 20 Turkeys.
