(Special to The Bulletin.) Washington, Jan. 19.—In the con- sumption of raw cotton, Connecticut ranks seventh in the list of states. During the vear ending August 81, 1911, there were in the state af total of 1,270,071 cotton spindles of which 1,257,827 were active. Spindles con- suming cotton mixed with other fiber pumbered 45,239 There was consumed 128,981 bales of cotton, of which 11,- 968 wera domestic and 15,033 bales were_ foreign. In the production of yarn for the year reported, Connecticut ranks fourth, being ranked by Massachu- setts, Rhode Island and North Caro- lina in the order named. Nearly three-fourths of the entire production of fine yarns was returned from the New England states, Massachusetts alone producing about two-fifths of the total for the country.
