WAUREGAN Condition of Highway Unsatisfactory —Mills on Full Time. Mrs. Oliver Willard and little daugh- ter Doris of Willimantic are guests of Wauregan friends this week. Complaint About Highway. The condition of the road leading from Wauregan to Brooklyn village is being criticised by the taxpayers at this end, and there promises to bz something doing at the coming town meeting. The mills are now running on full time, the new power being sufficient to operate nearly all the machinery with- out the water privilege. Addison Tracy is weeks' vacation. One of the pleasant social events of the summer occurred on Saturday aft- ernoon from 4 to 6, when a tea was served as thie hospitable home of Mrs. William Mathewson. Nearily a hun- dred people were present. The color scheme was green and white, wita hydrangeas and maiden- hair fern for decorations. These, to- gether with the softened light of pale green candle shades produced upon the bountifully laden table a beautiful ef- fect. Pomfret, Putnam and Thompson, as well as Woodstock, were well re- resented in the number attending. Surprise Visit. The yvoung people gave Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wright a surprise and tin show- er last Monday evening. The ladies brought cake. A very enjoyablé even- ing was spent.
