There are four first aots, and three thousand feet of the favorite “photoplays.” The acts are all on_comedy lines. Reded and Hilton have a neat offer- ing which combines several novelties, with clean comedy predominating. ‘Their skit is entitled “At the Seashore,” and special scenery is carried for it. Jack Gorman, the well known sketch writer, is the author, thus assuring the best and most up to date dialogue @btainable. “Rigdle and Rhyme, “adjusters of ec- centric comedy,” are a clever pair of entertainers who do a refined comedy act, consisting of singing, dancing, with many and elaborate changes of cos- m gymnastic speclalty that is “dif- tcrmt" is offered by Frobel and Ruge, “rl.l comedians, in their aefial pole They perform some daring and mfl( feats in mid-air, with an ap- parent air of recklessness. Some of their most difficult stunts gre hidden in the roars of laughter that follow ev- ery nuwo make. “The X and the short of it,” is the ‘way the -ll Duo are bllled and l:mv hv- -n wot that is unique in contatning many surprises. 'nu plmtoph:. for Thursday are ex- ceptionally well chosen, and no less than three feature pictures are on hand: First feature, The Diamond Swindler, a sensational detective pic- ture of the Sherlock Holmes series; feature No. 2, Lone Wolf's Trust, an Indfan picture that is away from the nm.l style of these films, conmtaining ny exciting scenes; feature No. 3, The Street Arabs of Paris, an Eclair masterpiece that is pictorially perfect. The Auditorfum’s new $500 drop has arrived, and will be installed or two. It is without a doubt charged with the responsibilities of a mediator in wage disputes involving interstate carriers. Umder the present law, the chairman of the commission and the commissioner of labor are ex- officio, a board of medfation and to them may be appealed controversies in” volving differences that may at any time arise between the companies and their employes. For various reasons, the commission considers such a re- sponsibility ought not to be placed up~ on either the chairman or any other member of the body. On the suggestion of President Taft an ame ent to the present Iaw was incorporated in the pending sundry civil appropriation bill, but it was elim- inated on a point of order, as new leg- islation. An effort will be made to in- corporate some similar amendment to the measure in the senate. BUBONIC PLAGUE GERMS . TRANSMITTED IN MILK.| Harvard Professor Fears It May Be Brought Here from the West. Boston, March 1.—The statement that bubonic plague, of which there are some suspected cases of which have been reported from the west, might spread to the east through the medium of milk, was made today by Dr. Theo- bald Smith, professor of comparative patlology, at the Harvard Medical school, at a legislative hearing at the statzhouse on @ bill giving the state board of health power to make regula- tions concerning the production and marketing of milk. Dr. Smith said that if the men handling milk in the west were infected with the plague thera would be grave danger in the milk shipped east becoming affected also, with the result that the plague ‘would spread.
