" Rollcall at Congregational Church. The rollcall of the First Congrega- tional church was held last Wednesday evening in the church vestry. Brown received word Wédnesday of the death of her sister, Mrs. Sumner Lincoln (Mary Saunders), at her home at Somerville, Mass. - Death was due to heart trou- ble. Mrs. Lincoln was a resident of Old Mystic during the early yvears of her life. ‘Theodore Johnson has returned from vidence where he has attended an automobile school. Beebe was un- able to attend the state meeting in Hartford it was voted that Mr. and Mrs. Woodworth should atiend, and they left Thursday for Hartford for the closing day of the meeting. A few minlites before six o'clock Monday night a fire broke out in the upper floor’ of the main room of the C. M. Robertson Co.'s Rockland mill. The fire started in a bale of rags in the rag room. An alarm of fire was sent at the box shop whistle. The company's own fire brigade respond- ed and the blaze was soon under con- trol. Attended Court in Providence. Brasus D. Lyon, Jeremiah Haley and Leander D, Chapel were in Providence Monday, attending superior court in connection with the Hazelhurst prop- erty case. Occupying New Town Farm. The inmates and their supervisors, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Blake, who have been occcpying a tenement in Oak- dale, have moved into the new aims- house, which has been built on the site of the old one. Reports from John $t. Denis, who was taken to the Memorial hospital for amputation of his left hand, which was badly crushed, are favorable. Miss Margaret Smith of Meriden has returned after a visit in this place. Mr. and Mrs. Earl I Browning left Tuesday to visit relatives in Provi- dence and Boston. During Mr. Brown- ing’s absence Reuben Austin will care for his route. Toes Amputated—Feet Frozen. Charles McDougall was taken to | Backus hospital by order of the se- lectmen Thursday for amputation of his toes, the resultgof having his feet frozen. Roscoe C. Dart, who has Leen spend- ing a week visiting in New York, has resumed his duties in his father's store. During his absence his broth- er, Hubert Dart, took his place.
