Practically all automobiles carrying acetylens in tanks under compression are barred from transportation on sleamers carrying passengers, accord- ing to a recent decision in the govern- ment steamboat inspection service. In the New London inspection dis- trict the ferries at New London and T.yms, and the Long Island route, do large automobile carrying business large proportion of the high power or newer makes of automoblles car acetylene tanks for lighting purposes It is sald that no automoblles carry tanks that will comply with inspection and strength requirements.
