White of the Massachusetts Agri- cultural college. Bulletin No. 3, issued by the survey, was a preliminary re- port, and the present bulletin gives its author's further investigations on flashy and woody fungi, confining his attention more especially to the edible species of the Agaricaceae. Some of the species were collected by tha late Dr. L. F. Underwood and by Dr. F. C. Earle in Redding and vicinity, while C. C. Hammer of East Hartford has collected and the author has carried on investigations in the vicinity of Mansfield. Fifty-three spe- cies not before reported are listd in the Dbulletin and the work is illustrated by half tones made from photographs taken by Professor White. Part II of the bulletin is of especial intersst, as it treats of some of the edible species of Agaricaceae and shows that the state has a number of varieties.
