CONNECTICUT ASSOCIATION STANDING. Lost. PC. New London 3 i 363 1 R ez After Josing two games to Middle- town in a double header engagement, the Norwich team came back with a changed batting order for the third engagement and put over a defeat on Tommy Bannon's boys. 11 to 4, scor- ing more runs at Sachem park than they had in the two games at Middle- town put together. About 800 peoyple saw the visitors trimmed by the re- juvenated Norwich team. From the way the home team played 1t looked as if the general shakeup, change in batting order. shifted posi- tions in the inficld and new men in the lineup would be productive of a faster and stronger team, althgpugh Monahan, the new centertielder, failed to make much of an impression at bat. He had no fielding chances, Mid- dletown was outplayed in all depart- ments. Paddy Duff was the field gen- eral for the afternoon and played a wideawake game that showed he had plenty of baseball in his noodle. In the first inning he ca it Catcher M Cue napping on a passed ball and got away with a stea] of third base w the catcher was holding the ball ard watching him. McCue threw low and too late to head off Duff, who danced up the line till he gof half way to third and then made a sudden dive forthe bag. ATong the features that stirred the fans to enthusiasm were Jimmy Noo- nan’s two doubles and two singles in five times at-bat, two nice throws by Chapdelaine which nailed runners at second bag in the first inning. Duff pulled off the spectacular fielding fea- ture when he jumped after and pulled down barehanded :t lofty one from Mulcahy’s bat_in the seventh which retired the =sid with two on bases.
