It feels that a great leavening, uplifting, moral force is here again. It Tecognizes his return as a pledge that no_crushing, arrogant wrong shall be suffered to exist unopposed, that no righteous cause shall lack a voice that stirs the people. Not that other Americans are less devoted, not that they have lower ideals, not tMat they understand less clearly their country’s need: vital difference is in strength, in Ability to get the results sought. No one else has Roosevelt's lifting power. No other voice is such a dyna- mic force. No other pen lg such & Jever. No one else can 4o the work the country 100ks to him to do, because no one else_has his hold on public senti— ment. No other American 0 stirs the imagination and bends the will of the people. Tt is this that puts a wonderful meaning into the Roosevelt welcoms. It is this which gives his return a deep and even solemn significance far more important than the vast superficial ex- plosion of joy and enthusiasm at New York—Cleveland Leader, rep.
