John and Caterino Cisco for the death of Daniel Sullivan, and John DiFonti for the death of Michael Ri- ley, were partially tried in the Third disirict court, Judge Oliver H. Will- ilams, Friday. These are the alleged wood alcohol poisoned whiskey cases, in connection with the many recent sudden deaths in Westerly and | vicinity, and are the only ones where | the accuSed are charged with man- slaughter. ~ Attorney General Green- | ough and Attorney Everett A. Kings- ley represent the State and Judge John W. Sweeney counsel for defendants both cases. The first called for trial was the | joint case against John and Catrino | Cisco, who are accused of sellir to Daniel Sullivan the poisoned whiskey | that caused his death on April 12. Patrick Brady testified he knew the late Daniel T. Suliivan for eighteen | vears. Saw him at John C just before six o'clock on of 224 of April. Witness drank sev- | eral glasses of beer there and saw | Sullivan buy a pint of whiskey from Mrs. Cisco, and identified the bottle that cdntained the liguor. Half an hour later Sullivan left Cisco’s to go to his home in White Ro. Quarter of an heur afterward witness left Cis- co’s hpuse. Witness testified he was 42 years of age and had resided in Westerly for 22 years, and had known Sullivan 18 ears, and known Cisco years.
