[ radford Returns|nesday, May 4 s ohn McAvoy's Dei!h Resulted from Natural Cayses—Lobster Law Off. v Town Solicitor ‘Agard, Chiet Bran: fleld and the police department have been collecting evidence in_substan- tiation and in-addition to that given by Coroner Brown, in the whiskey pol- ‘Soning cases, and will present the case to the grand jury which convenes at the superior eourt session in Kin ton, Monday, where Attorney General Greenough. in behalf of the state, will give the circumstances in the case personal attention. Should the evi- dence warrant an indictment of some nature will be brought against the party or parties who are believed to have violated the law. Town Solicitor Harry ~B. Agard makes this statement: “We have, or will, summon all who know anything of value about the case. It js the. general procedure in cases of this kind. to place the evidence beforé the grand Jury and they can decide what it is, Whether liquor sales, illegal ~manu- facture, nsiaughter, homicide, or 4f any degree of murder. “The grand jury _represents _the people and is composed of twenty-three men selected: from all sections of Washington county. They will have the best legal instruction from . the judge of the superior court and of the attorney general of the state. In any event the case would have to be put up to the grand jury: together with all the evidlence in the state's possession, even if comvlaint were made against any individual or in- dividuals, 8o it is a saving of time and a safe way to take the whole matter immediately to the grand jury. They have at their command the power and means to order a thorough investi- gation and there is no doubt that ev- ervthing possible will be done to get at the actual facts.” Mr. Agard said he did not know just what will be done by the Connecticut authorities in _connection with the deaths that occurred in Paweatuck, as he was not thoroughly familiar with the procedure in such cases in’ that state. He said, however, that “Coroner Brown had investigated the cases_and will probably report his findings to Prosecutor Hinkley of Stonington, who in turn will place the facts before Had- lai A. Hull, prosecuting- attorney of New London county. Whether any action will be taken in behalf of the state of Conwecticut before the re- ports of the investigation and the at- tendant action in Rhode Island are known, will probably be decided Hull, after he be- th the facts as offi- comes familiar cially presented.” y completed for the building to be erected in t by James A.
