The commit- tee has already outlined a plan of ac- tion which will permit the company to give decent service without serious in- convenience, but if this is not done the Board of Trade committee will take the matter up with the town council and demand that the franchise require- ments be strictly enforced, or that the company be ordered to remove their tracks from the highway, a power which, it is said, the town council re- served when the’ franchise was grant- e Rev. He visited the stores and pre- sented a card signed Charles Dutton which read thus: “Kind Friend—Ha: ing lost both speech ang hearing by & severe attack of fever, I am trying to get an education, so as to become self- Supporting. Kindly give what you can.” He was arrested by Chief Bransfleld and put through severe tests by the chief and Dr. Scanlon, the tests con- tinuing for nearly two hours, to ascer- tain whether Dutton was really deaf and dumb. He stood the tests well and if he is shamming he is certainly a good actor. He gave his past his-. tory and answered all questions in writing without the least hesitancy. Dutton will be arraigned in the dis- trict court on the cherge of begging.
