About three years ago he broke his hip and since that time has been confined to his room. He has been one of the prominent men in town, for many years serving as president eof the board of trustees of Woodstock academy. He has been a farmer most of his life, living on the farm where he died. He leaves a widow, a son, Clarence Child, judge of probate, and a daughter, Mrs, J. Richard Carpenter, of Putnam. By his death and that of Deacon Amasa Chandler the Congregational church loses its two senior deacons within a week. The funeral was held Tuesday after. noon at 2 o'clock.
