Professor Torp, rector of the uni- versity, in presentis the diploma to Dr. Cook, spoke of the admiration his achievement had aroused’ in the umi- versity, and declared that the news that another famous explorer had solved the same problem could in no way detract from the honor due Dr. Cook. Dr. Cook Accepts the Honor. In expressing his thanks, Dr. Cook said he accepted the honor as testi- mony of the genuineness of his jour- ney. He promised to. send to the uhi- versity his complete s, and he repeated that it was his intention to degpatch a ship to Greenland at his own expense to down the two Eskimos who accempanied »im on his expedition.
