Mills in this part of the state are beginning to be affected by the con- tinued lack of rain, a condition that Has. caused the streams along which the mills are situated to reach such a low point as not to permit developing the usual amount of power from them, This is true of nearly all the mills b tween Webster and Plainfield, and during the past week some of ‘them have béen obliged to stop some of their machinery because of insufficient water power. The steam plants of the mills are being used to a preater extent to help out during the low water period.
