BROWNING, n«-fi-} @ ichares Bigg | -4 4 grgiig Ball Game Popular Celebration Feature One of the big successes of the cele- bratioh, -as indicated by the fans at Sachem park, who counted up 1,600 and filled the grandstand and bleachers like old times, was the ball game Tuesday afternoon between the Northampton and Bridgeport nines. The coming of these two teams was engineered by George P. Madden, the well known nthusiast at the game, who scored a it by getting Northampton to come here, af it still contained some rem- nants of the nine that represented Norwich in the state league two years 2go. The Northampton players did the gnvar thing by the home crowd and eat out Bridgeport easily, 5 to 2. Capt. Tony Pastor at second, Eddie Bridges behing the bat and old reliable John Golden in center were the only ones of the old Norwich team who played for Northampton Tuesday, but Pitchers Ira Plank and Fatly Stevens appeared in practice and all an en thusiastic reception from the home fans. Among the features were a catch of a liner by Golden and a fly gobbled back of t by Pastor, while both of these players did execution with the bat that counted in the score of runs. Bridges caught his usual clever game, handling Jawn Hess' shoots, while the Bridgeport battery was Hennig in the box for three innings, Nolte for five, and Kocher catching. London joined in this sell- ing, especially of ted States Steel. The persistent heaviness of that stock had a depressing effect on the whole list. Foreigners showed some renewal of uneasiness over the copper trade situation. The price of copper war- rants fell sharply in London, and quo- tations for the meal were marked down at the metal exchange in New Yorl. Reports of ranidly expanding activity by the electrical equipment companies, with corresponding demand for copper, did not prevent a weak tone in the copper industrials. There were a number of stocks regarding which speculative _predictions have fajled, leading to resellipg by disap- inted buyers. The mey market remained easy in tone.
