C/s Defeat Montville Knights ot Columbus, 18 to 8—Gallivan Twirls Strongly. The expected game between the C. A. C’s and the Knights of Columbus baseball teams was played before a crowd of almost & thousand people on the Cranberry lot. The game, which proved to be a heavy hitting contest, and not a very interesting one, was won by the C. A. C. team, 18 to 8. Jackie Gallivan was on the firlng line and it looked as_though things were SABEIT 0 agn ‘him, as the Knights took to his deHvery in the first in- ning, sending in four runs and touch- ing him up for six hits. . After that Jackie settied down and no more runs | Swere secured off him until the ninth, when he let up and another four which made a total of eight, was all the Knights could get. For the Knights, Cranker, the New London star twirler, was hit almost at will by the heavy hitters of the C. A. C. In the sixth and eighth innings by good hitting and taking adyantage of the Knights' errors they piled up 12 runs. MeGuire in left played a grand gamo, accepting five hard chances in the crowd and also got three hits, Charle Levarge umpired and gave good satls- faction, although on a few decisions there was some kicking.
