A communication has been réceived by the officlals of the celebration through Congressman Higgins, states Chairman E. A, Tracy of the executive committee, to the effect that President Taft desires that there be no official dinner such as 8 planned to take place was to have been a large affair with about two hundred present, but wil] now be given up. Springfield Wants Taft. The fact that President Taft is to be here on the fifth of July has caused Springfield men to get busy and try and have him stop there for a short time on his way to Ticonderoga. They have figured on his leaving here on the fifth instead of the sixth for his trip although previous to that time her health had not been good. Mrs. O'Donovan was born in Canada, her malden name being Nellle Alexan- der. She had resided in this country most of her lite, however, and on Auk. 1, 1898, married Thomas O'Donovan, Rev. J. J. Smith performing the cere- mony n_8St. Mary's church. She was a devoted wife and mother and worked hard to make her home a happy one. The family will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends In her death. Besides her husband, who Is employ at Hopkins & Allen’s, she is survived by two children, Lucy. who is at the Baltic academy, and William, aged 3. Grand Warden Robinson Guest of Roy- al Arcanians, Grand Warden O. B. Robinson, from ‘Wiilimantic, made his promised visit Tuesday evening to Norwich council, No. 720, of th eRoyal Arcanum, at its meeting at the Buckingham Memorial, and was warmly welcomed by a good sized meeting. Billy Hall Resisted. On Tuesday evening Policeman Mor- gam arrested Billy Hall after much trouble. The accused went into Jen- ness’ cigar store and, it Is said, asked for cigarettes, and, being refused, pro- ceeded to belittle th~ clerk, and Po- liceman Morgan found him making a disturbance there, having been on his trail. He was arrested and resisted so that the policoman was obliged to throw him, but finally got him to no- lice station, with the charges of beg- ging, intoxication @nd resistance against him.
