North Grosvenordale’s chances for victory were diminished after the first inning when Larowe, who stérted out to do their backstop work, was forced out of the game' because of Manager Benoit's threat to protest if the former Nor- wich-Taftville man was used. Au- coin was brought in from second to finish the game behind the bat and other necessary changes and substitu- tions made that upset and unnerved the home team. The players and fans did not like the shakeup a little bit. Larowe and Manager Gahan both claim that the yhave Manager Benoit's word that he waived claim on Larowe in favor of the Andems. Benoit, however, has evidently changed his mind. Brooks, who made his first ap- pearance fith the Brownies, distin- guished himself in the fourth by smashing out a long single to right, scoring the three runners who filled the bases, and incidentally winning the game, Both teams look stronger than they were last year and will be fac- tors to be considered for places in the first division. The game was played half a gale of wind, which made of fly balls excuseable, but the en h(:rn House infield, except Pitcher CI t- man, gave an awful exhibition of hand- ling the ball, and the error column of the losers almost equalled the run col- umn of the winners. Because of the weather the game was called at the end of the seventh. At the end of the third inning the same was stopped five minutes'to pay respect to the memory of the late iovernor Lilley. Zemke was in unhittable form, and made the unusual record of striking out four men in the first inning, through a dropped third strike on whigh Frisbie gained first, after Zemke had fanned Freeman and Manchester. After passing Patridge, Zemke then struck out Sullivan. The Hospital men clouted the ball hard, and Captain Christman gave way to Freeman at the end of the third.
