T D R Mention: the Leader When Writing Advertisers - Get League Books| Small Number of Copies of “New Day in North Dakota” Left -.»--Ogly a few volumes of “The New Day in“North Dakota” are left for distribution, it*has been announced by the industrial commission of the state, and persons who wish to obtain a com- plete record of the accomplishments of the North Dakota legislature at its last session are urged to apply for a _copy at once. It may be obtained by sending 4 cents in stamps for postage to the In- dustrial Commission, Bismarck, N. D. The volume contains a complete and authoritative statement of the new in- dustrial laws of the first farmers’ leg- islature. There is a campaign being waged by opposition newspapers to misrepresent and discredit these laws of the people. One of the best ways to convince yourself and your neigh- bor that these stories in anti-League newspapers are untrue is to obtain a copy of the book, and find out for yourself just what these new laws of the state mean. It isn’t fair to yourself or the League to allow these lies to pass without being nailed. It is up to every League member to defend his organi- zation, and to defend it intelligently he must have the facts. If you can’t supply the real facts, the enemies of the League will supply lies that sound like facts. The supply of books is nearly ex- hausted, and persons wishing to ob- tain copies must send in their appli- cations at once, members of the in- dustrial commission give warning. THE BEST BUG KILLER Arsenate of lead is one of the best poisons for bugs. It can be used on any crop, has a high killing power, sticks well and does not burn the foliage. Extensive tests at the Wis- consin College of Agriculture have led them to recommend the arsenate of lead above all other poisons, as paris green, arsenate of zinc and cal~ cium arsenate. Paris green burns the . foliage. Arsenate of zinc should not be used on any crop but potatoes. The calcium arsenate- has a lower killing power and a tendency to burn the leaves. If paris green or calcium ar- senate is used, add an equal amount of good air-slacked lime, which will prevent the burning. For potato bugs use the arsenate of lead at a rate of two and one-half pounds per 50 gal- lons of water and of the arsenate of zinc two pounds. Apply when the bugs begin to hatch.—NORTH DAKOTA AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE. ENDS FORD CRANKING A remarkable new attachment for Ford cars and trucks which enables any one to start the motor from the seat, without getting out to crank, is being offered on free trial by the Bear Mfg.
